Old Town Gaol Entrance.

Over the door is the old town coat of arms- three dragons heads with crosslet swords and a pelican. Manacles and chains indicate that this was a gaol. Built in 1784 it was the residence of the gaol keeper and contains 18th century cells. It later became the towns police station until 1955 and contains 1930s cells.
