The east frontage of 1708 covers features dating back to the medieval period. Inside is a tiled floor and elegant fourteenth century brick-vaulted crypt. The twisted wooden columns of the portico are rare.The house is said to have been renovated by a local architect, Henry Bell. On the rain-water heads are the initials S.T. 1708 of Samuel Taylor, a wealthy wine merchant.
